Dave's Mostly Mets Blog

Another Day, Another Loss

In losing to the Dodgers 3-2 last night at least the Mets made a game of it. Kaz Matsui led the game off with a homer and got a hit in the 9th against Eric Gagne to keep the game alive (even though his team mates weren't able to score against the closer who hasn't blown a save since September 2002). Steve Trachsel pitched pretty well despite giving up 2 homers including one to Dave Roberts in an epic 12 pitch at bat. (Roberts just kept fouling them back until he got one he could handle.) Milton Bradley made a few good catches in center field including a leaping grab to bring a Mike Cameron homer back in from over the wall.

Other notes:
  • Jose Reyes played all 9 innings of a rehab game with St. Lucie. He could return to the team during this weekend's series in San Diego.

  • Cliff Floyd is doing well and will probably play at least one rehab game. He too could return in San Diego.

  • Scott Erickson aggravated his injury yesterday. That will set him back an unknown period of time and means that Jae Seo will stay in the rotation a little longer.
